admit v让，允许进入，容纳，承认

1）、承认—acknowledge—confess v承认（正式用语）

例I admit my mistake.我承认错误。

2、容纳—contain v容纳

例The new hall can admit ten thousand people.新大厅可容纳1万人。

例The hall can contain two hundred people.大厅里可以容纳200人。

3）、允许—allow允许—permit 允许

例You are not admitted to smoke here.此处不许吸烟。

例You are not permitted to smoke here.此处不许吸烟。

例You are not allowed to smoke here.此处不许吸烟。

4）、允许进入

例Children are not admitted.儿童免进。
